Hogan Fails to Keep Campaign Promise to Baltimore

Nov 02, 2017

Annapolis, MD—Governor Larry Hogan has failed to deliver for Baltimore again.  According to press reports, a project to expand the Howard Street Tunnel will not move forward despite Governor Hogan’s repeated promises to complete the project.

In October 2016, Governor Hogan said the Howard Street Tunnel project was “something that we’re going to make sure gets done.”  In May 2014, Governor Hogan blamed “politics and politicians” for not completing the project and said it would be a “top priority” in his Administration.

“Governor Hogan has repeatedly failed to deliver for Baltimore and even worse, he has stood in the way of efforts to move Baltimore forward,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews.  “Governor Hogan’s inability to deliver on the Howard Street Tunnel joins his cancellation of the Red Line and State Center projects as examples of his failure to improve the lives of hard-working Baltimoreans.  These projects would have created thousands of jobs and helped working families struggling to make ends meet get a foothold in the middle class.”
