Questions Larry Hogan Needs to Answer on Mitch McConnell’s “Aggressive” Recruitment

Jun 30, 2021

Last week, news broke that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was “aggressively” pushing Larry Hogan to run for Senate next year. The report raises new questions about Hogan’s political ambitions and his commitment to doing his current job.

Here are some basic questions Larry Hogan needs to be asked:

  1. When was the last time you discussed with Mitch McConnell and the NRSC a potential Senate run?

  2. What did McConnell or his representatives say to you?

  3. How many times have you discussed a potential Senate run with them?

“Maryland families deserve a Governor who is solely focused on helping them recover from the pandemic, not talking with Mitch McConnell in secret about climbing the political ladder,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Zachary Holman. “Larry Hogan needs to give Marylanders an answer on whether he’s going to spend the next year and a half doing his job, or trying to put Mitch McConnell back in charge of the Senate.”
