Meredith grew up in North Carolina and after getting married she moved to New Jersey where she helped operate a furniture company with her father. She relocated to Maryland in 1981. While working and raising her two sons in Howard County she got the political bug. In 1992 she began volunteering for the Howard County Coordinated Campaign for Presidential Candidate Bill Clinton. In 1994 she ran and was elected to the Howard County Democratic Central Committee where she served for 20 years. When she resigned in 2014 she had served as the committee’s treasurer for 10 years.
With Al Gore running for President in 2000, Meredith wanted to get involved on a daily basis. Without looking back she decided to leave the corporate world of finance and credit management to volunteer full time at the Maryland Democratic Party.
It was not long before Rob Johnson who was Executive Director at that time asked her to come on board and be a part of the official staff. 17 years later Meredith wears many hats in the day to day party operations. In her official role as Compliance Director she is responsible for all campaign compliance and finance reporting to State and Federal Agencies. Since beginning in 2000 Meredith has experienced five Democratic National Conventions, ten coordinated campaigns, currently serving her 10th State Party Chair, and working with her 12th Executive Director.
