SHAME: LARRY HOGAN REFUSES TO CONDEMN TRUMP’S MUSLIM BAN
Question for the Governor: Does Trump’s ban reflect American values?
Annapolis, MD. — Governor Larry Hogan is shamefully refusing to condemn President Donald Trump’s dangerous, discriminatory and unconstitutional Executive Order that bans immigration from Muslim-majority countries.
To put this into perspective:
This means that Hogan won’t condemn Trump even as local advocacy organizations report that the ban is targeting Maryland residents and “tearing families apart.”
Hogan won’t even condemn Trump despite the startling news that a 5-year-old Maryland resident was detained at Dulles International Airport on Saturday.
In response, Hogan’s team issued a statement Sunday night dodging the issue entirely and pivoting to “upholding American values.” This leads to an important question: does the Governor believe Trump’s ban upholds American values?
In any case, it’s no surprise that Hogan’s political cowardice is already prompting significant backlash from his own constituents.
The following statement was released by the Maryland Democratic Party’s communications director, Jazzmen Knoderer:
“Governor Larry Hogan’s refusal to condemn Donald Trump and his dangerous, discriminatory and unconstitutional Muslim ban is downright shameful - and it’s already hurting Maryland families.
“Governor Hogan’s constituents deserve to know whether he believes Trump’s ban reflects American values.
Hogan’s political cowardice raises an important question: how can Maryland families count on the Governor to stand up for them when he’s too afraid to stand up to Donald Trump?”
