In preparation for 2018, the Maryland Democratic Party is mounting an unprecedented, first-of-its-kind, statewide, grassroots listening campaign.
The Summer of Resistance and Renewal is a call-to-action that will give Maryland Democrats a chance to listen and connect with voters in a more meaningful way earlier than ever in the cycle.
Building on the lessons learned in 2014 and electoral successes of 2016, Maryland Democrats and allies are already working together to lay the groundwork for resisting the damaging policies of President Donald Trump and his surrogate Governor Larry Hogan, while at the same time defending Marylanders’ health care, jobs, communities and the environment.
Since the beginning of the year, the Maryland Democratic Party has already conducted briefings and trainings with grassroots activists in all 24 counties and jurisdictions.
But resistance to Trump and Hogan isn’t enough. Voters are also looking for an alternative, which is why Maryland Democrats are focused on renewal to share a vision for creating a better future for all Marylanders.
The Summer of Resistance and Renewal will feature:
- A launch event on Saturday, June 3 at 2 pm in Annapolis that will double as a community service-oriented food drive;
- Partnerships with Democratic clubs and progressive groups across the state to train voter outreach and conduct on-the-ground canvassing;
- Organizing community service events in every county; and
- Targeted online ad and surveys to amplify canvassing efforts on the ground.

The Democratic Party of Maryland is ready to organize, mobilize and vote in 2018. Are you? This summer, we want you to join us for a “Summer of Resistance and Renewal” rally on June 3 from 2-3p at Lawyers Mall in Annapolis.
Donald Trump’s agenda threatens the lives of everyone, including Marylanders with no help from his biggest fan, Governor Larry Hogan. The Democrats have been fighting for ALL Marylanders and now, we’re focusing on renewal to turn up the resistance. The time is now and we can’t do this without you.
As a way to give back to our communities, bring a bag of non-perishable food items to share with families in need. We’re in this together.
When we empower, organize and mobilize in our communities, good things happen. On June 3, join us at Lawyers Mall in Annapolis from 2-3p for a “Summer of Resistance and Renewal” rally.
Why? Because making a difference doesn’t happen when Election Day 2018 comes around. It starts right now. Don’t forget to bring a bag of non-perishable food items to share with families in need.
